-
You Don't Owe Anyone - Caroline Garnet McGraw
In her debut book, Caroline shares some of her painful personal stories that led her to the revelation that she doesnāt actually owe anyone. Period.
I have gifted several copies of this book b/c itās just that incredibly insightful and life-changing for anyone, especially over-givers & people-pleasers.
Itās a quick, easy and very engaging read. Iāll be rereading this one at least once more!
-
If I Knew Then - Jann Arden
If youāve never met Jann, then youāre in for an extra special treat. If you already know this genuine, hilarious, no-filters-on Canadian treasure, then hereās a healthy helpinā of her humor that takes the edge off the hard truths she shares. Sheās so real, honest & infinitely relatable. This is another book Iāve gifted often & am eternally grateful to Mona for putting it in my hands <3
(DYK?! I appeared on one of her shows & spent 2 fantastically fun days on set? She is just as wonderful in person.)
-
This Is Not The Story You Think It Is... - Laura Munson
I didnāt know what to expect from the title.. but wow! I see why Cynthia recommended it to me. Laura takes us with her through some deeply difficult days in her marriage & life, and the grace & space she gives her husband to work through his issues, not knowing what the outcome might be, is beyond admirable & entirely inspiring. Iāve marked and reread several passages because the lessons here teach an approach to all kinds of relationships that builds trust, compassion & the independence to let everyone grow & thrive at their own pace.
-
Braiding Sweetgrass - Robin Wall Kimmerer
What a truly beautiful celebration of the natural world, written from Robinās perspective as a highly educated scientist & professor, who also shares so much ancient wisdom from her native culture. Her warm, caring & compassionate character shines through the pages. There is pain & humor and a very deep affection for the land, this living earth we call home. I will forever feel differently about the abundant nature that surrounds me, itās primal wisdom and my relationship with it. Kyle gave me this book, along with a private drum-making workshop with a shaman!
-
Holy Heathen - Katherine North
Holy Healing! Here, in Katherineās memoir, where she debuts as an author, she takes us to visit her childhood as a missionary kid. We learn how the multi-cultural experiences and years of religious education molded & shaped her - sometimes in ways she wouldnāt realize or understand until decades later. She shares her journey of self-discovery as she faces her truths, finds her purpose and frees herself to be the authentic heathen she is - still spiritual, but on her own terms. Even if this was fiction, it would be a great read, but itās even more powerful as a memoir!
-
The Book of Joy - Dalai Lama & Desmond Tutu
I highly recommend listening to this in audio for the most impact. These two great spiritual masters share their own hard-won wisdom about living with joy even in the face of adversity. Plenty of humor here too as they are honest about their differences. They offer practical exercises and guidance based on the Dalai Lama's and Tutu's own daily practices, which anchor their emotional and spiritual lives.
-
E2 - Pam Grout
Pam includes lots of humor as she tells us of 9 do-it-yourself energy experiments that prove your thoughts create your reality. E2 could best be described as a lab manual with simple experiments to prove once and for all that reality is malleable, that consciousness trumps matter, and that you shape your life with your mind. A quick, easy read - but take your time and try the experiments.
-
E3 - Pam Grout
Pam is back with more humor and 9 more energy experiments that prove manifesting magic and miracles is your full-time gig. She takes you higher and deeper into the quantum field, where youāll prove that blessings and miracles are natural and that joy is only a thought away.
-
Bird By Bird - Anne Lamott
Anne has some fun and practical instructions on writing and life. Her dad once told her 10yo brother, who was panicked trying to finish a school report on birds, not to be overwhelmed, but to take it ābird by birdā. She suggests this as a way we can do the same when writing and living life. Sheās also hilarious!
-
Everything is Figureoutable - Marie Forleo
Hearing this in audio is best IMHO. Marieās mom once told her, āNothing in life is that complicated. You can do whatever you set your mind to if you roll up your sleeves. Everything is figureoutable.ā Whether you want to leave a dead end job, break an addiction, learn to dance, heal a relationship, or grow a business, Everything is Figureoutable will show you how.
-
Expecting Adam - Martha Beck
Iāve been a fan of Martha for years, but only recently discovered this fascinating TRUE story of her & her husbandās (sometimes surreal) experiences before & after their son, Adamās, birth in the ā80ās. Adam has Down syndrome. Martha takes us on their journey, as they came to terms with that fact, and how the powers that intervened got them there. She found much of these occurrences very hard to accept, let alone tell others.
-
The Book of AWESOME - Neil Pasricha
Iāve lost track of how many copies of this book Iāve given as gifts..! Itās a feel good, often funny-because-itās-so-true book that you can pick up and flip open any time you want a quick hit of AWESOME!
The good news..?! Heās got other titles that are just as great, including his most recent āYou are AWESOMEā.
-
The High 5 Habit - Mel Robbins
Don't let the title fool you. This isn't a book about high fiving everyone else in your life. You're already doing that. Cheering for your favorite teams. Celebrating your friends. Supporting the people you love as they go after what they want in life.
Imagine if you gave that same love and encouragement to yourself. Or even better, you made it a daily habit.
Mel has a new podcast too!
-
Magnolia Table - Joanna Gaines
I LOVE COOKBOOKS! and was gifted this beauty, which has been on my wish list for a long time - itās a gift kind of book that I didnāt feel right buying for myself. And lord knows, I donāt hesitate to buy myself a book that catches my attention!
I read cookbooks like novels. That might be odd, but thatās how much I love them - I want every detail. I read each recipe and mark the index with those I want to try. As I read, Iām already dreaming up ways to personalize each one.

Hawkins Cheezies
This Classic Crunchy Cheesy snack - is soooo satisfying & still the best IMO!
I recently learned theyāre GLUTEN FREE! and CANADIAN!!! Hereās the scoop.
Chesterās Cheetos (like the ones in Munchie Mix) are a close second. Paired with a tall glass of chocolate milk & youāre good to go. -
Icy Squares
I love to stash these in the freezer - then pop them in my mouth to thaw. Dark chocolate are my favorite! Theyāve been around forever & I wasnāt always a fan until I discovered the freezer trick!
-
Licorice Tea
You either love black licorice or you donāt - thereās no riding the fence on this lol. I have always LOVED it! and indulging in a nice hot mug of this tea is amazing.
Iām famous for forgetting Iāve started a kettle to make tea⦠& then Kyle shows up with a fresh mug he finished brewing for me <3 -
Lindt Lindor Chocolates
These decadently delicious balls of truffled chocolate are divine!
Every flavor is soo good, but again - dark chocolate is my fave. If they came filled with Marzipan - theyād be PERFECT! -
Bengal Spice Tea
Hereās how I make this - fill my mug 1/2 full of milk, drop in a tea bag, heat it in the microwave for 90 sec while the tea kettle heats up. Then about 20 minutes later, when I remember I started a cup of tea - I reheat both the milk & the kettle - top up the mug with water & enjoy!
-
Black Licorice
This premium soft Australian black licorice is the absolute BEST!! You either love it or not. And most ppl hate it - so it I rarely have to arm wrestle anyone for the last piece! Iāve loved it all my life. Only my Dad shared this taste and everyone at work would save the black jelly beans for me lol
-
Marzipan
Confession time⦠Iāve been known to buy this almond paste to eat by the spoonful.. but itās even better wrapped in chocolate. My family knows that dibs on the marzipan in the chocolate box belong to me.. unless my little bro is in town. Then we might need to rock/paper/scissors. Christmas packages from Germany often included a box of marzipan treats.
Movies š¬
-
Erin Brockovich
Compared to most ppl, Iāve actually watched few movies in my life, missing many classics and having no idea what their plot is, but there are some movies that Iāll watch multiple times. This is one of them. Based on a true story. I love this character.
-
Bad Moms
Loved this movie from the start. Iāve lost track of how many times Iāve watched it. There is always another girlfriend who hasnāt seen it & then we NEED to watch it and laugh & fall in love with the characters. *Bonus! the soundtrack has some great tunes. OH!! and be sure to catch āA Bad Momās Christmasā too. A really great sequel.
-
Cruella
I inwardly rolled my eyes as I joined the fam to watch this & was very pleasantly surprised. Emma & Emma are such incredible actors and the soundtrack is great too. Now Iāve seen it a couple more times, which is rare & tells you how much I liked it.
-
Master of Disguise
Iāll admit, there are those (ahem.. Kyle) who couldnāt find the humor that I did in this movie lol, but Iāve seen it several times and every damn time & am holding my sides laughing. Give it a chance! I bet youāll fall in love with Pistachio. Heās so adorable.
-
Top Gun - Maverick
Such a great sequel. Lots of excitement, speed (and some feels). Everyone in our family loved it (some have seen it 5 times already lol!). Never been much of a Tom Cruise fan, but have to admit, heās aged fairly well. Some great actors in this!
